Village of Pewaukee — The annual Pewaukee Kiwanis Beach Party will be more than just a good time to enjoy summer weather, food, beverages, music and dancing. This year, one organization wants to raise awareness about keeping the area's lakes clean.

The Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club will host the Lake Country Clean Water Festival the weekend of the 16th annual Pewaukee Kiwanis Beach Party, June 24 and 25. The club will be putting on a clean water expo and clean water education program.

According to a news release from the ski club, the mission of the festival is to raise awareness for the increasing need for the preservation of Lake Country's lakes and to raise money for funding efforts to keep area lakes clean. The event will bring awareness of the growing problems facing area waterways and will provide a means for the public to enjoy the many activities available on area lakes.

The Ski Club will also host a learn-to-ski clinic, fishing clinic, kayak rides, wind-surfing lessons, adaptive skiing for people with disabilities, pontoon boat rides, barefoot water ski clinic, and will put on a water ski show.

There will be a small fee to participate in the festivities, with proceeds going toward preserving the freshwater lakes in Lake Country. Limited sponsorships for the Lake Country Clean Water Festival hosted by the Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club are still available. For more information go to www.plwsc.org or contact Ski Club President Jeff Friess, at (414) 350-6566.
